All of these photos are of stones found in Middleborough. The stones are all MARBLE, and they are supposed to be WHITE. The reason that many of the photos were taken against the background of snow is to highlight the color that the stones were when they were put in place and the color that they can be again. Marble started to be used about the mid-1800s. You're looking at decades worth of accumulated MOLD! Nothing is charming about mold.
