Middleborough Historical Commission - the cemeteries bylaw
At the special town meeting of October 1, 2012, the community voted to enact Article 16.
The inspiration for this article originated with the FoMC. Jeff Stevens worked with town officials to finalize the wording. These cemeteries have trust funds that are held in trust by the town of Middleborough. The principal of these trusts can never be spent. The interest earned by these trusts can only be spent by the town for maintenance of each specific cemetery. A mechanism was not in place to access the interest. Now, there is.
