"Eaton South" Cemetery - exact location unknown

Picture

Various sources record the existence of this cemetery. We do not know where this place is today, although we do have some idea. If anyone knows exactly where this place is, we ask that you contact us. We would like to remember those buried here, honor their existence and their legacy by document their stones, restoring their stones if necessary, and preserving the burial site.

This cemetery is referred to in the book "History of the town of Middleboro, MA" by Thomas Weston, as the "Eaton Cemetery". He describes this cemetery as "Eaton Cemetery, on Taunton Street between Center and Cross Streets.". Taunton Street is now Anderson Avenue, Center Street is now Old Center Street, and Cross Street is now Erica Avenue.

Thatcher recorded the location as "Records of yard on Taunton Street between Center and Cross Streets". He recorded 4 Eatons.

The 4 people known to be buried  here, with headstones, are:
Eunice Eaton - Died March 28, 1832 - aged 45 years
Israel Eaton - Died March 19, 1833 - aged 72 years
Kesiah Eaton - Died August 27, 1837 - aged 75 years
Rebecca Eaton - Died August 28, 1834 - aged 19 years
