MACRIS MID.813
Cemetery at The Green is a private cemetery managed by the Cemetery at the Green Association.

The first person buried here was Lydia Thomas. She died 6 July 1717.

Thomas Weston, in his book "History of the town of Middleboro, Massachusetts", in the chapter "Cemeteries", wrote: The Parish Burial Ground at the Green, containing about two acres of land, was conveyed to about fifty persons as proprietors by James Soule in a deed dated March 30, 1717. Many prominent in the history of the town are here buried; among them Peter Thacher, Jacob Tomson, and Isaac Howland. It is probably the largest burial ground, there being ten hundred and seventy-four memorial stones now standing. Adjoining this cemetery upon the northerly side are the tombs of Zachariah Eddy, Esq., and Thomas Weston, and on the easterly side is the family tomb of Rev. Peter Thacher.
