About Barbara Chadwick
Barbara was born at St. Luke's Hospital in Middleboro. She grew up spending her summers at Long Pond in Lakeville. Barbara graduated from Apponequet High School in Lakeville. Her B.S. was attained at Framingham State College. She continued her education obtaining a M.S from Perdue University. Barbara worked many years as a manager and buyer in the retail field. Presently, she works as an adult education teacher. About Harry Goodale (1873 - 1958) Born in Danvers. He was appointed in 1921 to be the first person to hold the position of Town Manager in Middleboro. Harry served as a corporal during the Spanish-American War, and also in World War One. He was active in town affairs, serving as a Director of the Middleboro Cooperative Bank, a member of the Board of Trustees of Sr. Luke's Hospital, and was a charter member and the first President, of the Middleboro Lion's Club. Harry was buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Danvers, Massachusetts. In the book "Seventh Yearbook of the City Managers' Association", published in August 1921, was written about Harry: "A town manager charter was adopted last November by a vote of 906 to 253. The board of selectmen, elected in January have appointed as manager, Mr. Goodale, who was at the time superintendent of public works at Attleboro, Mass.". |
