In service to our Community. The Friends of Middleborough Cemeteries, Inc. is a charity. Every person involved with this charity is a Volunteer. We all give our time, because we believe in the mission. Volunteers are not Members, but they can be. Anyone who donates ten (10) hours at any of our officially designated volunteer events may choose to submit those hours to become a Member for this calendar year or for the next calendar year. Completion of twenty (20) hours does allow for membership in both years.
The Middleborough Public Library hosts our Volunteer Meetings on the 3rd Thursday of the month. The room opens at 6pm and the meeting runs from 6:30 - 7:30. The building closes at 8. We invite you to attend! We are all performing service to our community, either voluntarily or as part of a requirement. Much of our efforts are in cemeteries. We rake and bag leaves. We mow the grass. We document and photograph headstones. We teach people who want to clean slate and marble headstones. We flag the graves of our Veterans. However, we are not confined to cemeteries. We edit and store our photographs. We research the people and the cemeteries. We prepare and provide presentations that educate and raise awareness. There are a myriad of skills required among our various opportunities to accommodate anyone who wants to serve. There are lots of things that this charity can do. We have many ideas, and we have only mentioned a few. If you have a simple idea or a complex project, share it with us, and we can work to turn it into a plan. That is how this group came together; one person with an idea. What's yours? |
